An overview: In the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, the students are educated to obtain sound theoretical concepts and practical skills. The department imparts instruction as per the syllabus prescribed by the BIT, Mesra (India). Students are involved in assignments & projects, which are designed by faculty members keeping abreast with the contemporary computing standards. The motif is to hone their individual analytical and problem solving skills and exposure to various computer programming dimensions. In addition, various assignments and projects enable them to get habituated to team work and develop leadership qualities.
Application: Computing solutions are being developed to support almost all domains of human activities including scientific activities, as well as business processes. There is an increasing demand for computer programmers, network administrators, database administrators and IT managers in the emerging corporate world.
Employment Opportunities: Computer Science & Engineering graduates stand good chances in getting lucrative employment opportunities around the world. Having acquired comprehensive training and technical expertise in addition to proficiency in soft skills, a graduate is prepared to join the IT industry for core software design & development and network administration. Fresh graduates can expect entry level and advanced level positions in Software Development, Project Management, Quality Consultancy, Software Testing, Customer Support etc.
Eligibility Criteria:
The maximum age limit for admission to undergraduate programmes is 21 years as on 1st October 2011. Candidates must have passed in all subjects in which they have appeared in Class 10 (excluding optional subjects) with minimum 60% marks in average. Marks in Class 10 to be computed as average of marks obtained in all subjects in which candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects).
Candidates must have studied and passed Class XII. Candidate must have passed in all subjects in which they have appeared in Class 12 (excluding optional subjects) with certain minimum marks in average for each programme as given below. Marks in Class 12 to be computed as average of best 4 subjects including English and other required subjects /combinations of subjects for a given programme. Candidates must have passed in English, Physics, Mathematics and one other subject in Class 12 / I. Sc. or equivalent examination, with minimum 60% marks. Marks in Class 12 to be computed as average of best 4 subjects including English, Physics, Mathematics and one other subject.
